PFAS

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances persist, bioaccumulate for long-chain members, and now sit under tight U.S. drinking-water MCLs measured in parts per trillion. This hub collects every PFAS guide on the site.

Frequently asked

About PFAS

What is a ppt?
Parts per trillion — one part in 10¹². EPA set PFOA and PFOS MCLs at 4.0 ppt, which is why ordinary carbon pitcher marketing often fails without a certified claim.
Does boiling remove PFAS?
No. Boiling does not destroy PFAS and can concentrate dissolved contaminants as water volume falls. Use certified RO or carbon systems rated for the target compounds.
Should I stop breastfeeding because of PFAS?
Public-health defaults generally favor continued breastfeeding for most people; discuss individual high-exposure cases with clinicians rather than internet detox scripts.
